Monevo: Bringing Financial History and Planning Together
A personal finance application designed to connect everyday transactions with budgets, account balances, and long-term financial planning.
- 2026–present
- Product, design and engineering
- Pre-launch: public launch pending
- React, Vite, Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Bootstrap, D3

The problem
Tracking spending is only part of personal finance. People also need to make sense of historical transactions, manage budgets, understand account balances and plan ahead without losing the context contained in years of financial data.
Product ownership from the problem up
Kavindu defined the product direction and built Monevo as an independent personal finance application, combining product design, frontend implementation, Firebase-backed data flows and hands-on validation.
Make history useful for planning
Monevo brings transaction tracking and forward-looking planning into one workspace, for people who record or import their own data rather than connecting a bank. Every amount is stored in whole cents and every forecast is calculated the same way each time, so a figure can always be traced back to the transactions behind it.
What Kavindu built
- A transaction ledger with search, tag filters, bulk editing, splits and transfers.
- Account and net-worth views, including property values and loan and mortgage amortisation with extra-payment scenarios.
- Monthly budgets with rollover, and a twelve-month plan.
- Cash forecasts at 30, 60 and 90 days and to year end, with a breakdown that adds up to the forecast.
- Reports by category, tag, merchant and cash flow, and a 2026 Canadian tax estimate.
- CSV import designed to handle large transaction histories, with resumable checkpoints, duplicate detection and undo.
Where it stands
Monevo has a working product foundation and is currently marked pre-launch on the portfolio. The work has focused on handling real financial history, preserving data integrity and connecting everyday transactions with budgets and future planning.
