Nestday: Bringing Family Coordination Into One Place
A family organisation product exploring how shared plans and calendar events can make everyday coordination easier.
- React, Vite, Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions, Google Calendar API

The opportunity
Family life involves coordinating plans, schedules and shared responsibilities across people and devices. Nestday explores how a single, thoughtfully designed workspace can make those everyday details easier to manage.
Product and technical ownership
Kavindu shaped the product concept and brand direction, developed the design system and core application experience, and built the React and Firebase foundation.
Make shared information useful
Nestday is designed around a Home each family arranges for itself, a calendar that brings every source together, and a wall display for the kitchen or hallway. Child profiles have limited rights, private events show only as busy, and the data rules that protect each household are tested with the code.
What Kavindu built
- A shared family calendar with day, week, month and agenda views, recurring and private events, and calendar links.
- Chores and routines with a stars ledger, and rewards that adults approve.
- Shared lists, meals and recipes, a pantry, and grocery lists generated from the week’s meals.
- A Home dashboard each household can arrange.
- A wall display, paired with a code, with a PIN and privacy settings.
- Households with roles and invitations, including child profiles.
- Google Calendar sync, built and awaiting production credentials.
Where it stands
Nestday is in development and not yet released publicly. Its core family features are built and tested against the Firebase emulators; Google Calendar sync and notifications delivered outside an open browser tab are the main pieces still to finish.
